The ‘Making Time for Leisure’ Teleseminar was held July 17, 2008 at 7p.m. VOW Coordinator, Nicola Greene, hosted the seminar along with guest speakers Kim Standridge of Master Travel and Julia Barron of Barron’s Bookstore and Café.
Kim Standridge of Master Travel emphasized the importance of couples getting away on an overnight trip or a week-long journey. “The best economical choice for a couple’s getaway is a cruise,” Standridge said. “Planning a trip in advance is half the fun for couples!”
Julia Barron of Barron’s Bookstore and Café discussed how couples can do small, intimate activities to share alone time together. Barron says date nights are one important activity, because they bring a little adventure in your relationship. “Everybody needs to continue to date,” Barron says. “My husband and I always make time just for the two of us.”
Another great tip Barron recommended was flipping through a magazine together or reading separate books in silence. Barron says a comfortable silence between couples is empowering, and it is a great way to share and grow in your relationship without words being spoken.
