Community leaders gathered on November 8th 2007 at the Summit II club for the VOW Gregg County Marriage Policy Luncheon to support the 2008 Greater Longview proclamation, Healthy Marriage City.
Local leaders, businessmen and pastors were asked to join this proclamation and help promote marriage education in the greater Longview area.
Justin and Tonya Waite, VOW Program Directors, began by welcoming the guests and shortly explained the purpose of the VOW Healthy Marriage Education Initiative.
Pastor of the Church at Grace Creek, David Benson, was one of the many speakers of the afternoon. Benson captivated the audience with his speech highlighting marriage, divorce and cohabitation.
People spend more money for the actual event than they do for the preparation it takes to be married, Benson said.
Gregg Zachary, Associate Pastor of Education and Outreach of Mobberly Baptist Church, also spoke of the benefits of the VOW Marriage Program.
I hope to see the churches partner with VOW and stand with businesses in our community, said Zachary.
VOW Gregg County Coordinator, Nicola Greene, concluded the speaking presentations by encouraging the local leaders, businessmen and pastors to join the Healthy Marriage City proclamation.
